What is the value of market research? How do we use it?
Some of the most common problems:
- getting bogged down in the “data” instead of focusing on the most important results
- missing or not hearing the answers to the questions that were not asked
- being so focused on our own agenda that we forget to listen
Moving towards better solutions:
- pay attention to the one or two results that really jump out at you
- listen well enough to hear the surprises
- respond to the results - do something
Item 3 bears repeating: Take action on the results.
When we ask questions, we should be ready to hear the answers. Whatever they are.
